MASS MoCA will give over Building 5 — the football-field-length gallery that has defined the museum’s scale since it opened — to a single commissioned installation this winter.
The museum said the piece will respond to the mill complex’s own history, drawing on textile and electronics manufacturing that occupied the site for more than a century.
North Adams officials have pointed to winter programming as the difference between a seasonal draw and a year-round one.
